Facts about the mountain games at LKAB
LKAB has eight rock plays in the Kiruna mine. The purpose is to effectively lift crushed rock to the ground surface. The Bergspelen are renovated one at a time at a rate of one Bergspelen per year.
The work started in 2016 and is to be completed in 2023. Each year a new call is made for the assignment and the constellation has received renewed confidence four years in a row.
The lifts run 70 km an hour and lift 40 tonnes of rock at a time.
